Team Vitality is a French esports organization, currently competing in the EU LCS. For information about their Call of Duty team, see their page on CoD Esportspedia. For information about their Halo team, see their page on Halo Esportspedia.
History
Team Vitality formed its League of Legends team in December 2015 as its first expansion into PC gaming, acquiring Gambit Gaming's EU LCS Spring 2016 seed. Their first player signed at the time of announcement was former H2k support kaSing.[1] 5 days later, Vitality completed their roster with former Gambit toplaner Cabochard, former CW jungler Shook, former ROCCAT midlaner Nukeduck and kaSing's former teammate Hjärnan. For their coaching staff, Vitality signed former Gambit coach Shaunz.[2]
2016
Vitality's roster was considered one of the top lineups in the LCS, and they finished the split in third place, behind the surprise first-place G2 Esports and second-place H2k. Cabochard and kaSing were elected to the split's All Pro Team, as the most outstanding players in their positions. With a 13-5 record in the regular season, the team qualified for 2016 EU LCS Spring Playoffs. However, they were upset by the sixth-place Fnatic and were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Heading into the summer split which features a best of two double round format, the team failed to improve upon their spring performance, securing only 3 match wins throughout the season with a 3-9-6 series record. After a tiebreaker against FC Schalke 04, Vitality was ranked 7th in the regular season, avoiding relegation to end their 2017 season run.
During the offseason, Vitality overhauled its roster by acquiring Steelback, Hachani, GBM, and Djoko to the starting line up. Alderiate and AoD later signed up as substitute.
2017
With the reorganization of the EULCS regular season format to the best of three, Vitality was drafted into Group B along with Origen, H2k Gaming, Splyce, and Unicorns of Love. After opening the season with a paltry 1-3 record over three weeks, support player Hachani was benched. Three days later, GBM moved to the starting mid laner position, while Nukeduck took over the empty support role. With constant changing roster, the team's performance suffered by finishing fourth in Group B with a 3-10 record, good enough to avoid relegation and retain their spot for the summer season.
Heading into the summer season, Vitality finalized their new roster by bringing on VandeR as their new support. The team also acquired YamatoCannon as their new headcoach. Drafted into Group B with H2k Gaming, Splyce, Unicorns of Love, and Mysterious Monkeys, the team's fortune improved somewhat from the spring season to finish the summer season with a 5-8 record. Still, it was not good enough for the team to advance to the summer playoffs, though once again the team avoided relegation and retained their spot for the 2018 season.
