"KaKAO" (Real Name: Lee Byung-kwon (이병권)) is a Korean League of Legends player, formerly a Jungler for APK Prince.

Biography

KaKAO was first seen in the pro scene as the top lane player for KT Rolster A. He played well, but after coming up short with their 3rd place performance, his competitive future was in doubt.

KaKAO came from nowhere when he joined KT Rolster B. After 3 months of being out of the scene, joined KT Rolster B as the jungler. He adopted the philosophy that a jungler's role is to meet the needs of their team during the laning phase, KaKAO's low-farm, high-roam style has been the backbone of KT Bullets' early game through the entire tournament.

KaKAO has stated that his favorite jungler is Jarvan IV, though he's become famous for his "submarine" plays with Evelynn. As well as his coordination with his old mid laner, Ryu.

The last Korean team KaKAO played for was KT Rolster Arrows before he moved to China to join Invictus Gaming in the LPL. In his first split with IG, the team finished 5 in the round robin stage of 2015 LPL Spring. The team then finished 3rd in the Playoffs, winning against Vici Gaming (3-1) in the quarterfinals, losing against EDward Gaming (0-3) in the semifinals and winning over Snake Esports (3-1) in the 3rd place match.

In 2015 Summer, KaKAO and IG finished 3rd with an 8-8-6 standing, qualifying them for the playoffs. They again finished 3rd, winning the 3rd place match against EDward Gaming (3-1), after winning over Vici Gaming (3-2) and losing to Qiao Gu Reapers (2-3) in round 4 and semifinals respectively.

The team then went on to the Regional Qualifiers and won, alongside EDward Gaming, as #2nd and #3rd seeds from the LPL Region for the 2015 World Championship. They were grouped against Fnatic, Cloud9 and ahq e-Sports Club, and failed to make it out after losing 3 out of their 6 games.

On December 29th, the team announced that KaKAO has left. He then joined LSPL team Wan Yoo Dream before leaving again in December 2016.

2017

After Korea and China, KaKAO then made it to Europe. On December 13th, Misfits, a former Challenger Team from the EU CS who recently qualified to the EU LCS after defeating Schalke 04 in promotions, announced that KaKAO will be joining the team for 2017 Spring Split as the starting Jungler.

KaKAO's rookie split in the EULCS with Misfits can be considered a success, as they ended the split as 2nd place in their group, with a standing of 8W-4L. In the playoffs, Misfits was seeded against Splyce whom they manage to beat in a reverse sweep. Moving into the Semifinals, KaKAO and Misfits faced Unicorns of Love and lost (1-3) placing them on 4th place overall, after losing the 3rd place match against Fnatic.

According to Misfits, however, "A top 4 finish is admirable for a team coming from Challenger, but for us, it is not enough."[1] It was said that due to his inability to contribute to communication, the team decided to release KaKAO from his contract and replace him with ROCCAT's former Jungler, Maxlore, for the Summer Split.
