History
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
Beginnings
On November 9th, 2015, Luminosity Gaming announced their expansion into Call of Duty eSports with the signing of Replays, ProoFy, SpaceLy, and John for the 2015 - 2016 season. The team would first be invited to the Totino's Invitational 2015 at the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. the team would be matched up against Rise Nation. Their newly build roster was too much for the team and they would lose the series 1-3 and be eliminated from the tournament. The team would then practice for the upcoming 2016 CWL NA Pro Division Qualifying Invitational Tournament that would able them to qualify for the 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1. The team would be placed in Group B along side Rise Nation, Team eLevate, and 3sUP. The team would face off against Team eLevate in the first series and would lose 1-3 and be pushed down to the Losers Bracket. The team then would go up against 3sUP. The team would have no problem and win 3-0 moving on to the second decider match with Team eLevate. The team wound not get any offense going in any game and would be swept 0-3 and be eliminated from the tournament.
After the tournament, the team decided to make a roster change. The team would replace ProoFy and switch in Saints in time for the 2016 CWL NA Pro Division Online Qualifying Tournament. The team would start the tournament with no losses. The next day the team would punch their way to the decider match between Enigma 6 Gold after only losing 2 maps prior. The team would sweep Enigma 6 Gold and qualify for the 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1. The team would finish 7th Place in 2016 COD World League NA Pro Division Stage 1 with a 9-13(41-48) record. At 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Playoffs, the team lost to Rise Nation in the first round 4-1 and finished 5-8th Place. Before the beginning of the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Regular Season, Luminosity would switch out John for TeePee and SpaceLy would move to substitute for StuDyy.
Over the course of the stage, Luminosity hovered beneath the relegation line before finally reaching 7th place via a tiebreaker in the final week. Due to another tiebreaker at the top of the standings, the team would faceOpTic Gamingat the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Playoffs. Surprising everyone, Luminosity eliminated OpTic Gaming in a seven-game series to advance to the semifinals. They were then eliminated by Dream Team and finish in 3rd-4th place. The victory over OpTic Gaming earned the team enough CWL Championship Points to qualify for the 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship. They competed in Group C and defeated ANZ teams Mindfreak and Chiefs eSports Club but lost to a rising UK team known as FAB Games eSports. In bracket play, Luminosity defeated Team Allegiance before falling to [[Rise Nation], which dropped them into the Loser's Bracket and they were swiftly taken out by OpTic Gaming. Luminosity ended up finishing the event overall in 9th-12th place. The days leading up to the Infinite Warfare release, Luminosity dropped players NAMELESS, SpaceLy, and StuDyy in favorite for former Rise Nation players Classic, Octane, and Slacked.
Infinite Warfare
To some people the Luminosity Gaming team has been extremely consistent this season. To others, their performances have merely been mediocre. The season started at MLG Vegas 2016 with a 5/6 placement along side OpTic Gaming. The team was not happy with their placement at the event so they set their sights on the upcoming event: CWL/2017 Season/Atlanta Open. The team improved on their placement at MLG Vegas 2016 with a top 4 finish. However, the team was still looking for their first championship. The #LGLoyals traveled to Paris, France for the Esports World Convention just a week after the event in Atlanta, but came out the event with a top 12 placement. Despite popular belief, the team stuck together! After that, Slacked and co would be heading to Dallas, Texas to compete at MLG Dallas open in March. Luminosity eventually finished the event with a 7/8 placement after a Game 5 loss to OpTic Gaming.
